At one stage of the Civil War, Thrawn's 7th Fleet faced the rebel cell of the Lothal sector, commanded by Captain Hera Syndulla. Meanwhile, the Grand Admiral was sent on a special mission, during which he was accompanied by Darth Vader. The two men had to work together again to recapture the Force-sensitive Chiss children from the hands of the Grysks. The mission was successful and, in the process, a conspiracy was discovered, which involved another Grand Admiral.

The completion of the mission enabled Thrawn to return to fighting the rebels in the Lothal sector. At the same time, Syndulla planned an attack to repel the Empire from this part of the galaxy once and for all. During the battle, padawan Ezra Bringer came to the aid of the rebels. The young Jedi appeared in the company of the space whale-like Purrgil race. They surrounded Thrawn's flagship, who was on the bridge with Ezra, and moved the ship to an unknown area of the galaxy.

Perhaps it was Thrawn's disappearance that was one of the key moments that ultimately led to the fall of the Galactic Empire. The brilliant strategist could not support his troops in any way. The death of the Emperor and Darth Vader were symbols of the end of the system and the people still loyal to the Empire went underground. However, it is apparent that Thrawn had to be found and in the upcoming productions we will learn the fate of the great admiral.
