A few months ago Disney+ released Ahsoka. The show depicting the fate of Anakin Skywalker's eponymous former apprentice met with a very positive reception from critics and audiences alike. Among other things, the title was complimented for its palette of interestingly portrayed characters, including two mysterious mercenaries - Shin Hati and her mentor Baylan Skoll. The latter in particular became a fan favorite.

Sadly, the popularity that the former Force-use gained among the fans was not revealed to the actor Ray Stevenson, who died a few days before the official premiere of Ahsoka. The star's tragic passing caused many to wonder if his character still had a chance to return in a possible continuation of the series, especially since the first season's finale did not give viewers an official answer about Skoll's future.

In an interview with Vanity Fair newly appointed executive director at Lucasfilm, Dave Filoni, confirmed that Baylan's story is not over. Showrunner of Ahsoka did not reveal, however, whether there is a chance to continue the character's story without Stevenson. Instead, the filmmaker shared a behind-the-scenes look at working with Stevenson, stressing that the actor did not see his character as a villain.

"Of course there is a story there. At this point, we'll have to wait and see. But I'm glad that the conversation is about Ray and how great he was. I used to have short debates with him and say: 'Ray, you are the villain here.' And he would reply: 'I don't think so.' And I said 'I know you don't think so, but I do. I love the fact that you play like you're not one.' That's exactly how Baylan thinks," Filoni explained.

The filmmaker added that he feels great regret at the thought that Stevenson could not experience Baylan's popularity firsthand.

"I think he would have been overjoyed [by Baylan's popularity - ed. note]. I'm very sorry that he couldn't get a taste of it. I'm glad that he was with us at Star Wars Celebration, that he was able to see the trailer and feel a foretaste of the fan response. And they were simply wonderful in terms of the reception of Ray and his character," the showrunner added.

We, in turn, can't help but thank Stevenson for his great performance in Ahsoka and many other productions.
