Creators of Mission: Impossible 7 Copied Sequence From Uncharted 2? Undeniable Resemblance

Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, depicting the further adventures of agent Ethan Hunt, is currently showing in theaters around the world. Christopher McQuarrie's production is being praised for many different reasons, but the most acclaimed are the breathtaking action scenes performed by Tom Cruise.

And while the film is filled to the brim with them, two are of particular interest. We are, of course, talking about the already legendary scene of jumping off a cliff on a motorcycle and the sequence with the dangling railroad car. Interestingly, the latter fragment seemed very familiar to the director of Uncharted 2, Bruce Straley.

The acclaimed developer shared his thoughts on the movie on Twitter, posting a direct comparison of the scenes from Dead Reckoning and Uncharted 2. Both depict a wagon dangling over a precipice. In the former, we see Tom Cruise clinging to the passenger seat, while in the latter an identical action is performed by Nathan Drake.

Straley commented his evidence with the text: "the sincerest form of flattery," referring to a popular saying.

Not the first time...

Did Christopher McQuarrie really "borrow" a memorable sequence from a game released in 2009? Perhaps. Recall that during the ad campaign for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation in 2015, the director admitted that the movie's opening scene, in which Tom Cruise clings to a flying plane, was inspired by the very Uncharted (via Eurogamer).
