Mission: Impossible 7 Director Buries Fan Hopes for Ilsa's Return

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is conquering the screens of the world's cinemas. The latest show starring Tom Cruise has garnered great reviews among critics, and is now delivering excitement to fans of the series. However, the latest installment of Ethan Hunt's adventures provided viewers with more than just adrenaline due to fast-paced action and spectacular stunts. This time the creators also served us a very moving moment - the scene of Ilsa Faust's death.

The killing of this well-liked character was something viewers could not believe. So some fans... simply did not accept it. They considered that it will probably be revealed in the second part of the show that the character played by Rebecca Ferguson is actually alive, and the filmmakers will provide an explanation for what we saw on the big screen.

Recall that the heroine dies in battle at the hands of Gabriel, stabbed by the villain with a knife. Thus, the command of the Being - the artificial intelligence, ordering either Grace or Ilsa to be killed, is fulfilled. The death of the IMF agent was made even more poignant by the fact that Ethan and his co-worker showed that they had more in common than professional matters. As much as we would love for the fan theory to turn out to be true, the words of director Christopher McQuarrie, seem to contradict it.

Recall that the desire to explore the emotions and develop Ethan Hunt's personal story was the main reason why the creators decided not to shorten Dead Reckoning, but to split the movie into two parts. The second will debut in theaters in the summer of 2024.
