Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Character Was Inspired by Fight Club's Brad Pitt Role

Played by Brad Pitt, Tyler Durden is the main character of Fight Club, considered by some to be one of the best movies of modern cinematography. David Fincher's movie lives on, as to this day audiences are still wondering about its interpretation, despite the fact that the director did not explicitly say what really happened and what did not happen in the movie. For this reason, too Fight Club reminds us of itself from time to time - whether in the form of memes or references in other movies. This happened in the case of the Transformers series. In the latest installment, Rise of the Beast, one of the characters was meant to be a walking allusion to the now iconic movie with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.

The character in question is known as Mirage. He is an autobot who came to Earth at the urging of Optimus Prime. He first appeared in the 2011 production. In the latest movie, he is dubbed by a well-known comedian Pete Davidson. The creators wanted to introduce a hero who would be what Donkey was to Shrek. Mirage therefore provides comic relief, and his task, in addition to fighting enemies, is to relieve tension on the screen. Steven Caple Jr., the movie's director, had the idea for the reintroduction of Mirage from the very beginning. The prototype became Tyler Durden from Fight Club.

The Blu-ray release of the movie includes 90 minutes of bonus material (including an alternate beginning and ending). In one of the recordings the actor dubbing Mirage explains what the director told him just before the shooting began.

From the additional materials we learn also that Mirage's character is a reflection of Davidson's personal approach to the character. Interestingly, on set, the actor added some of his own dialogue, which made the Autobot became even more unpredictable. In essence, he remains an ally and friend of Optimus Prime, but would we use the same words to describe the relationship between Tyler and the Narrator?

It's hard to compare Durden to a comic relief character. Rather, he is a representative of the underground. He opposed the corruption of a generation that believed everything that the commercial world advertised. There is no point in going into details - in the end, everyone perceives this movie individually, which is why, despite the passage of years, there are still discussions about it.
