The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Planned Much Darker Ending, but 'There Was No Applause'

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the latest movie belonging to the universe about giant robots. It turns out that it originally had a very different ending.

The Transformers universe recently received another movie. Rise of the Beasts, referring to the iconic series from the 1990s, made its debut on cinema screens. However, the production could have received a much darker ending.

The issue was raised by director Steven Caple Jr. in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The filmmaker explained why it was decided to change this element of the latest installment of the popular series.

"There were a few things I learned during the test screenings, but the most important was that after 2020, people definitely expect happier endings. I wanted to do something uplifting, but I also prepared a darker version of the film. In it, Prime flew into space. I think you'll see it in the deleted scenes, but when he finally destroyed Transwarp Key, he was pulled into a portal and landed with Unicron. There was also a moment when Mirage did not return. I continued to think that the movie was good, we received good ratings, but something still didn't fit."

And then I realized that there was no applause and joy after the victory, the whole thing was a bit depressing. So we wanted the heroes to win. I went back and made sure that's what happened.

Would the original ending have made Transformers: Rise of the Beasts meet with a better reception? It's hard to say, but the latest installment in the series is not one of the most popular. It boasts mediocre ratings on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes.

However, if you don't care about critics' ratings, we remind you that the show is currently available in theaters.
