If the creator of the Star Wars universe, George Lucas, had been in charge of the new trilogy, the movies might have looked very different.

As fans of the galaxy far, far away probably know, the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, had his own vision for the continuation of the original story. In statements from years ago Lucas revealed unrealized plans for his own trilogy, which was to be set after the events of Return of the Jedi.

First and foremost, Lucas wanted to bring back one of the universe's most notorious villains - Darth Maul. Although to many viewers Maul seemed dead after his spectacular death in The Phantom Menace, in The Clone Wars he was back and alive. According to Lucas' idea, the Sith was to return even darker and more powerful as the leader of the united gangs.

One of the most intriguing elements of the planned trilogy was the character of Darth Talon - Maul's apprentice, an assassin with a body covered with numerous tattoos. She was to become the key antagonist of the trilogy, the new Darth Vader, and lead the fight against the next generation of Jedi trained by one of the main characters.

The plot, in turn, would focus on rebuilding the New Republic after the fall of the Empire and defeating threats from dark forces. The task of ruling the renewed Republic would be taken on by Leia, who would have to fight dangerous gangs that were bringing more and more chaos to the galaxy.

Lucas planned for Senator Leia to become Grand Chancellor of the New Republic at the end of the new trilogy. Luke Skywalker, on the other hand, was to take charge of the search for young candidates ready to begin training as padawans. The formation of a new generation of Jedi knights was to take 20 years.

Unfortunately, George Lucas' ideas for sequels were not realized, as the director decided to sell Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012. The new management created its own version of the sequels - a new trilogy that began with The Force Awakens.
