Marvel Soves Mystery of Forgotten Post-credits Scene

Thor: The Dark World features an inconspicuous scene after the credits. The title character arrives on Earth to meet Jane Foster. Later, for a few seconds, the Frost Beast is seen in a rather comical way, acting like a domesticated dog or cat. In subsequent Marvel films and shows, the theme of this monster was not addressed at all and we could have forgotten about it.

This all changed with the second episode of Secret Invasion, which not only explains what might have happened to the aforementioned beast, but may also prepare the ground for new superheroes. In the final episode of the show, Gravik was asked what he will do when the Avengers show up. Skrull replies that he already has everything planned out and shortly thereafter we get to see what he had in mind.

At the secret base of the rebel Skrulls, G'iah logs into a computer and finds some interesting information. It turns out that research is being conducted on the Frost Beast's DNA at the site, which would mean that the monster is dead and being used to give superpowers to the Skrulls. That's not all, however, as the computer shows more information.

On the screen we can also see data on the DNA of Groot, Cull Obsidian and also the Extremis virus. Everything is side by side, which may suggest two options. Secret Invasion is either laying the groundwork for the rise of the Fantastic Four, or the viewers will be able to see where this group of superheroes came from right in this latest Marvel production. Will they be a foursome of Skrulls who go over to the side of Earth's defenders this time? Or will Gravik lose access to the captured resources and it will be Nick Fury who will organize a new project? Future episodes will bring the answer.
