Samuel L. Jackson is undoubtedly one of the MCU's most recognizable stars. The Hollywood legend, playing the role of Nick Fury, has already appeared in more than a dozen productions of Marvel's ever-expanding universe. As the actor is 74 years old, there are growing questions about how much longer we will be able to admire him in the - let's not hide it - rather physically demanding film genre.

Good news for fans

While advertising Secret Invasion Jackson gave an interview to the editors of Empire, in which he addressed the topic of his future in the MCU. Speaking to the reporters, the actor suggested that he does not intend to give up portraying Fury and is open to returning in future Marvel projects. He hopes to continue to play an important role in them.

"I love playing him, and I love the fact that they are opening up new possibilities for his life yet to come. So I hope I'm not done yet and I will still play a role in this next phase of the MCU," he said.

Fury without the eye patch - hidden symbolism

However, before the star continues in Marvel's next full-length productions, he has yet to appear in the aforementioned Secret Invasion. The footage from this show has so far presented Nick Fury without his trademark eye patch. Interestingly, its absence has a deeper meaning.

As Jackson stated, the character's depiction without the eye patch symbolizes his humanity and highlights the fact that he is not the superhero that some people think he is.

"All of these elements are part of the invincible Nick Fury. Here we have a guy who shows his face and how old he is. It's an opportunity to humanize someone who everyone thinks is superhuman," the actor added.

Finally, let's recall that Secret Invasion will debut in June on Disney+.
