Did Palpatine Set Anakin Against Padme? In This Deleted Scen From Revenge of the Sith

The prequel Star Wars trilogy from George Lucas failed to live up to expectations. This deleted scene shows another issue where Palpatine began to influence the young Anakin. It's not entirely clear why George Lucas chose not to use it in the final version of Revenge of the Sith. However, this may be due to the fact that Palpatine lured the young Jedi to the Dark Side of the Force precisely with the promise of keeping Padme safe.

The cautious, calculating manner in which Palpatine manipulated Anakin gains an additional level of nuance and complexity in this scene. The Sith knew that for his plan to succeed, he had to overcome Anakin's loyalty to Padme. This was the only way he could turn the young Jedi into his apprentice.
