What About the Ghost of Tsushima Movie? Chad Stahelski Brings Great News

The director of the upcoming film based on the popular video game has shared new information about the project. They are filling us with optimism.

In 2021, one year after the release of Ghost of Tsushima by studio Sucker Punch, Sony announced that work was underway on a movie adaptation under the direction of Chad Stahelski, director of John Wick movie. Since then, fans have waited unsuccessfully for any new news on the production. As it turned out, however, this silence did not mean that the project has been put on hold, and work is continuing at its best.

In a recent interview with ComicBookMovie the director confirmed that the work on the movie is proceeding swiftly. Stahelski expressed confidence that due to the distinct storyline and the excellent characters the game boasts, the show will be loaded with elements that will entice the viewers. At the moment, the team is focusing on transferring the unique visual aesthetics into the language of cinema.

"This is something we are working on intensively. (...) I would say that the story of Jin Sakai in the game is the most anti-Samurai story because of the plot and themes. The journey the protagonist takes, from the moment he transforms or chooses who he is to become, who people want him to become, what his honor tells him and who he must become - is very interesting to me. The story and the characters in it are definitely something I don't want to lose in any way. [...]

I want to keep that aesthetic. It's about how to include so much information in a film that can bring another film, series or project. So the trick is not that we have great material. We know we do. It's about how to make it a great two-hour or two-and-a-half-hour film - satisfying and with an open ending so it can continue to grow. It's a real challenge to get such extensive material down to a level that can be watched."

Now, after a long wait, we can be sure that the team working on the movie is perfecting every detail to give us a unique cinematic experience.

It is worth mentioning that the script for Ghost of Tsushima is created by Takashi Doscher, and the production, in accordance with Stahelski's wishes and thanks to the support of Sony, will be voiced entirely in Japanese.
