Where Furiosa fits in Mad Max Timeline? Explained by director

George Miller presented the world with the first part of Mad Max in 1979. The post-apocalyptic cinema in the spirit of ozploitation became a hit worldwide. The series grew significantly since then. Furiosa is the fifth installment of the series. Unfortunately, with prequels, sequels and midquels, it's easy to get lost. Fortunately for us, the director has come to the rescue and explained the timeline of Mad Max.

During the Brazilian CCXP, Miller revealed when the action of Furiosa begins (via omeleteve).

Furiosa will present the backstory of the title character. From the trailer we learned that the movie's plot has its beginning 45 years after the fall of civilization. The trailer leaves no illusion that in less than half a century society has gone mad. In the fifth installment of the series, Miller will take a look at the newly formed factions and depict Immortan Joe's path to becoming a tyrant, as known in Fury Road.

We know that work on the set of Furiosa was pleasant for Chris Hemsworth, who played the role of Dementus. In his opinion Miller's new movie is a thoughtful and imaginative production. Let's hope that this is not just idle talk, and that the fifth installment of the series will match Fury Road. Furiosa will hit theaters on May 24, 2024.
