40 Years Later The Toxic Avenger Returns; Sci-fi Comedy Reboot With Star Cast and Sensational Ratings

The first reviews from movie critics have just appeared on Rotten Tomatoes, where the reboot of The Toxic Avenger was met with a very good reception. Lasting one hour and forty-two minutes, this action comedy at the moment boasts a score of 90% positive reviews. The premiere took place at Fantastic Fest and it was there that reviewers were able to see the return of the story made famous by 1984's The Toxic Avenger directed by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz.

The original gained recognition as a great black comedy, and over time public honored it the status of iconic work. Five years later, there were two more movies in the series, but they recorded a spectacular failure. The situation was improved somewhat by the fourth part of the series, which departed from the previous two episodes. As for the 1984 movie, it it set the bar for this year's reboot high. Judging by the reviews, any moment now we will get the production in a completely new guise.

The latest movie tells a similar story, as the work from forty years ago. It is a story about an ordinary janitor who, after falling into a pit of toxic waste, transforms into a monstrous guardian of morality and begins to hunt down local villains.

Reviewers praise the work of Macon Blair, noting frantic action, plenty of blood and elements of black comedy. It is for these qualities that fans loved the original. The reboot is also expected to include an unexpected emotional message, which elevates the movie beyond the genre. The main roles are played by such stars as Peter Dinklage, Elijah Wood or Kevin Bacon.
