Sylvester Stallone apparently envied another action movie star of the 1980s, Arnold Schwarzenegger, because like his former rival, he decided to tell the story of his career in a documentary. The movie, titled simply Sly is available on Netflix, and currently the star of Rambo is advertising it, opening up about important decisions regarding his professional life.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, Stallone returned to the days when he made one of his most famous movies with his participation - Cobra. Although today many viewers return fondly to the movie, in which the star played the unforgettable Marion Cobretti, the 1986 show was not very favorably received by critics.. To this day, the work is one of the least appreciated in the star's impressive career, and Stallone himself was nominated for a Golden Raspberry for his iconic role as a law enforcement officer.

37 years after the movie's release, the actor revealed his idea of what he could have done to save the work from criticism. The American revealed that the best solution would have been to direct it himself - instead of ceding the director's chair to George P. Cosmatos.

"Cobra was unpolished. I could have tried harder, I wasn't focused enough. I felt I should have directed it, and I didn't. I regret that. It's one of those things about movies when, looking back - besides watching your hairline recede - you think to yourself, 'God, why didn't I try harder?'."

It's hard to say unequivocally whether, had Stallone been at the helm of Cobra, he would have succeeded in making a better movie. What is clear, however, is that by the time he played the law enforcement officer with a significant nickname, Stallone had managed to develop as a filmmaker. Recall that a few years earlier he wrote the script for Rocky, which earned him an Oscar nomination, and also directed, among others Rocky 2 and Staying Alive.

A documentary dedicated to the star, titled Sly, is available on Netflix.
