Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Hides Easter Egg From Sci-fi Classic

The Star Wars universe is rich in all kinds of references to other productions that have left their mark on the science fiction genre. However, during the screening they can be overlooked, because they appear just for a short moment.

If in the near future you will recall Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, you may take the opportunity to check out a well-hidden easter egg. All you have to do is stop the movie at the right moment. Specifically, at the 33:40 mark.

It was at this moment that viewers followed the steps of Qui-Gon Jinn as he traversed the junkyard with Watto. Hidden in the background was the EVA Pod, a vehicle made famous in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Easter egg required a lot of work from the film crew.

This is because those in charge of props had to construct a perfect replica of the aforementioned vehicle. All the models used for 2001: A Space Odyssey were destroyed at the behest of director Stanley Kubrick.

This easter egg is a nod to the production, which undoubtedly had a huge impact on the science fiction genre in cinematography. Without 2001: A Space Odyssey paving the path of special effects, there would be no Star Wars.
