Long awaited by MCU fans, Secret Invasion has finally debuted on Disney+. The first episode certainly ensured that viewers had no time for boredom. The final sequence, in particular, made your heart beat much faster.

The death of Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders, was unexpected and shocking. The actress revealed in a recent interview when she learned of the character's fate (vide The Hollywood Reporter).

"THR: So how was the news of this gut punch first delivered to you?

Cobie Smulders: I was told right away. I was told right off the bat when Lou D’Esposito gave me a call to chat about just joining up [on Secret Invasion], and so I’ve known about it for years, which is really funny. It’s nice to finally have it out there. I’m surprised I didn’t let her slip, so I’ve known for a while," she said.

Later in the interview, the actress revealed whether there is a chance for her to return to the role. Especially since Marvel's explored multiverse offers a chance to reintroduce characters who have been dead so far.

THR: Fortunately, no one’s ever really gone in the multiverse, so have they given you some indication that Maria could pop up again down the road, somehow, someway? Did they leave the door open?

Cobie Smulders: That’s sort of for them to decide. I will always answer the call, but I have no idea what they have planned for future productions. But I guess anything’s possible in the multiverse."

It has to be said that the creators of Secret Invasion have started their show with a bang. It remains only to wait for what will be shown in the next episodes. The next one will debut as early as Wednesday on Disney+.
