Warning! The following text contains spoilers for Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire.

Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire has debuted on Netflix. The new space opera by Zack Snyder is visually spectacular and although it hasn't been warmly received by critics, many viewers are sure to be tempted to experience the movie regardless.

This text explains the ending of the movie, which tells the story of Kora, embarking on a journey to find warriors capable of defending her home, a farming colony on the planet of Veldt. Said warriors must be ready to face the Motherworld's armies, out to bring the entire universe under their heel.

Why did Kai betray Kora and the others?

The smuggler Kai was one of Kora and Gunnar's first companions, offering them his help on his own accord. From the very beginning, he's an obvious opportunist, adapting to changing circumstances for personal gain. Though he seems suspicious, his usefulness to the cause earns him the protagonists' trust.

In the last act of the film, this trust turns out to be misplaced. By joining Kora and Gunnar, Kai was able to gather the Motherworld's most dangerous enemies in one place, then he attempts to sell them out to Admiral Noble. Unlike his former allies, all driven by justice, revenge or ideals, Kai is driven only by self-preservation, having seen his people killed by the Motherworld and joined them to avoid sharing their fate.

His betrayal ultimately costs him his life, as Gunnar finds the strength within himself to kill Kai and free his captured companions.

What happened to Admiral Noble?

Admiral Noble exits the movie by falling to his death after losing his duel with Kora. Though he does indeed die, in the final scenes the Motherworld's army recovers his corpse, takes him to the King's Gaze, hooks him up to a machine and brings him back to life. This does add up, as Deborah Snyder had revealed to ScreenRant that the universe of Rebel Moon features technology advanced enough to resurrect the dead. The admiral is also cybernetically enhanced, which certainly made the process easier.

It seems this isn't the last we've seen of Noble, as he's now tasked with quelling the rebellion and bringing Kora to Regent Balisarius. This means he's bound to visit Veldt again soon, eager to take revenge on the protagonist.

Who was Admiral Noble talking to at the end?

After being hooked up to the mysterious machine, Noble was brought back to life and briefly transported to a strange place, seemingly an entirely different dimension. There he met a mysterious figure, dressed in extravagant robes. The man turned out to be Regent Balisarius, deeply unsatisfied with the Admiral's performance so far. He gives him one more chance to prove himself useful by stopping the rebellion, disposing of the rebels and bringing Kora to him, alive. Balisarius intends to publically punish his rebellious daughter, the hopes he once had for her now being a thing of the past.

What happened to the robot Jimmy?

Jimmy is a Motherworld military robot, who's laid down his arms after the king's death, refusing to fight even in self-defense. He ultimately takes up his rifle once more when the Veldtian girl who's shown him kindness is in danger. After killing the Motherworld's soldier he was supposed to side with, Jimmy runs away to parts unknown.

We catch a glimpse of him again at the end of the movie, when the heroes return to Veldt. We see the lonely robot, with newly-acquired antlers on his head, watching the spaceship land. Truth be told, there's not much we can figure out about him at this point, his final appearance only serving to tease a larger role for him in the next installments. Jimmy is reportedly supposed to have more screentime in the extended cut of A Child of Fire, which is expected to appear on Netflix in the future. The new scenes are supposed to portray his spiritual transformation, though this is all conjecture so far.

The foundations for the sequel have been laid out. The protagonists are convinced Noble is dead and are back on Veldt, ready to rest after an arduous battle. The viewer, however, knows Noble is alive once more and is planning an invasion to crush the rebels and capture Kora. This sets up the warriors' brave stand against the Motherworld to defend Veldt.

Kora, meanwhile, will be forced to face her past and likely confront her adopted father, Balisarius.

Fortunately, she can count on Gunnar, General Titus, Tarak, Nemesis and Millius, who all came to Veldt alongside her.
