Just a dozen hours after the first trailer for Dune 2 was unveiled at CinemaCon, Vanity Fair published an extensive article about the highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 blockbuster. In an interview with the aforementioned editorial, a few words about the upcoming show were revealed by its director, Denis Villeneuve.

The Canadian filmmaker first of all wanted to emphasize that Dune 2 is not a sequel, but the second part of the same story. The movie begins exactly at the moment when the first part ended.

"This is important - it is not a continuation, it is the second part. This is the difference... I wanted the film to really start exactly where we left the characters. There is no jump in time. I wanted dramatic continuity with the first part," confessed Villeneuve.

The interview with the filmmaker featured several photos of characters familiar from the first part, among which you can see Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani.

The cast of Dune 2 in addition to the aforementioned two, includes Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Stellan Skarsgard (Baron Harkonnen), Dave Bautista (Glossu Beast Rabban), Javier Bardem (Stilgar). The team was rounded out by Florence Pugh (Princess Irulana), Austin Butler (Feyd Rautha Harkonnen), and Léa Seydoux (Margot Fenring).

Recall that Dune 2 will debut in theaters on November 3. Before the premiere, however, it is worth remembering the first part.
