Netflix's The Witcher Ridiculed Online; Costumes Look Like Bought in H&M

Costumes from the third season of The Witcher have raised questions among fans. Particularly striking was Yennefer's outfit, which was closer to clothes from a popular chain store than a medieval fantasy universe.

Yesterday's trailer of the third season of The Witcher did not achieve the effect the creators might have expected. In the comments fans denounce the lack of fidelity to the source material and allowing Henry Cavill to walk away. However, the final season with the aforementioned actor stands out also with something else entirely.

Twitter user by the handle arnaerr drew attention to the outfit that the sorceress Yennefer is wearing. Her costume looks like Netflix decided to buy clothes for the show from H&M, a well-known clothing chain, as the user wrote.

And user Fakes Forge immediately picked up the idea and created a makeover, which could probably work easily on storefronts:

Other commenters also expressed their disapproval, criticizing what Netflix showed.

"Ok, a fantasy series producers need to start hiring cosplayers for their costume departments. What the hell is this?," asks The Vandelay.

"Yennefer would NEVER wear something so old-fashioned and grandmotherly," points out The Hanged Stan.

"The costume department overdid it with its silent protest," concludes Steph.

"They want to make us believe that the series is doing very well financially, and then show us costumes pulled from some spring sale?," asks Damian FItas.

"Perhaps when Cavill left, the screenwriters thought they didn't need to hide any more and went: 'Let's show them that we really hate the source material,,"suggests JayNut.

The reactions are not positive. As you can see, the trailer alone saw the team responsible for the series face criticism from fans. We remind you that the third season of The Witcher will be the last with Henry Cavill and the first divided into two parts. One block of episodes will be released on June 29 and the second on July 27.
