Legend of Zelda Movie Virtually Certain; 'Universal Finalizes Deal'

More than $1.3 billion - that's how much Super Mario Bros. Movie has earned in theaters so far. Thanks to this, the film adaptation of the adventures of the mustachioed plumber climbed to the second place in the ranking of the best-earning animations in history. Such a huge success of the movie has made Nintendo want to strike the iron while hot and the company is already planning to bring its next franchise to the big screens.. At least, that's according to information available to Jeff Sneider.

During a recent podcast, one of Hollywood's best-known insiders revealed that the Japanese company is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with Universal. The collaboration is expected to result in a movie adaptation of Nintendo's popular game series - The Legend of Zelda. Illumination, the creators of Minions and the aforementioned Super Mario Bros. Movie, will be responsible for the project.

Given the popularity of The Legend of Zelda (and especially its latest installment) a possible movie adaptation of the series is almost doomed to cinematic success.

Keep in mind, however, that for the time being these are unconfirmed rumors. Nevertheless, if there is indeed something to it, it is only a matter of time before we get more information from the onvolved parties. So there is nothing left for us to do but to be patient and await the companies' comments.
