Zack Snyder Assures Rebel Moon Will Correct Certain Star Wars Issue

Rebel Moon is expected to avoid a common Star Wars problem. The movie's director, Zack Snyder, explained which one.

Rebel Moon is the first major project by Zack Snyder since Justice League. The upcoming movie, often referred to as "Star Wars for adults," will be a space opera set in its own original universe. According to Zack Snyder it will not duplicate a certain problem faced by Star Wars.

In an interview with Screen Rant Snyder touched on the problem of Tatooine, to which Star Wars returns - according to many - far too often. The director wondered, how such a small planet in the middle of nowhere is always at the center of galactic events.. What's more surprising is that the Tatooine fad is actually widespread throughout the universe.

"We try. I always laugh that in Star Wars the costumes of the natives of this strange Tatooine, a planet in the middle of nowhere, are fashionable throughout the universe. I thought they were very specific. But let's say it's okay.

When you're making a sci-fi movie, you think to yourself, 'Okay, what is this world supposed to be? What does the home planet look like?' Everyone could wear neon jumpsuits, who knows. There are a million examples. It could be like in 1984 by George Orwell. It could be something. I like the idea that everything is inspired by Earth, because that makes it a lot easier to identify with."

Zack Snyder makes it clear that he cares about building a believable and coherent universe. Rebel Moon is a new IP in the ranks of science fiction, and it is not trapped in its own nostalgia, as is the case with Star Wars and Tatooine. The movie series will focus on showcasing a wide range of planets, and each will stand out, whether visually or culturally.

Rebel Moon will hit Netflix on December 22 - at which time we'll be able to judge how Snyder has handled his first project after leaving DC.
