Third season of The Mandalorian went in a rather unexpected direction. Din Djarin and Grogu were relegated to the background, and the hitherto main character missed something that, in the eyes of the viewers, could have been his destiny. Bo-Katan became the leader of the warrior race, not Din Djarin.

A new season of Disney Gallery / Star Wars: The Mandalorian has appeared on Disney+ and Jon Favreau commented on the aforementioned topic. According to the filmmaker, the plot decision did not meet the expectations of fans, who assumed that the story would follow an obvious path.

"I think people were waiting for Mando. He had the sword and should sit on the throne, from a wandering bounty hunter to turn into someone like Aragorn. It seemed like a tempting idea, but when you consider the clues, you can come to our conclusions and follow our lead. We can see that when he first uses the Darksaber, it is too heavy. That's what the Armorer says."

Jon Favreau recalled that when Din Djarin was imprisoned, Bo-Katan had a chance to use the Darksaber. The use of this weapon was no problem for her, nothing was weighing her down. At the same time, she was ready to give up what she wanted so much, to Djarin.

Din Djarin did not want to be a leader and such a role beguiled him, as his relationship with the Darksaber makes it clear. In contrast, Bo-Katan constantly aspired to this function, and tried to live up to the expectations that might be placed on a person wanting to lead an entire people. The future prederred by Din Djarin was shown in the final scenes of the third season of The Mandalorian.
