The Last of Us Season 2 With Approximate Premiere Date; HBO Confirms

As the year 2023 draws to a close, many streaming platforms are becoming increasingly bold in promoting the productions they will be gracing their customers with in this near and slightly distant future. HBO has not forgotten about its subscribers, either, having presented a spot advertising the oferring of Max for 2024 and 2025.

The more than 2-minute video featured, among other things, excerpts from the fourth season of True Detective and the second season of House of the Dragon. There was also a short preview of the highly anticipated The Penguin, which is a spin-off of the movie Batman. The list was also completed by The Sympathizer, starring Robert Downey Jr.

The most important thing, however, is that among all these proposals there was also a place for The Last of Us. Thus the station confirmed that the second season of the hit show will debut in 2025. Unfortunately, work on the show's set will not begin until early next year, so only shots from the original episodes were used for the clip.

Recall that the second season of the show will be an adaptation of The Last of Us Part II. Thus, a new actress will join the cast to portray the revenge-hungry Abby. For now, it has not been revealed who will come to portray the heroine. According to recent rumors the closest to the engagement is Kaitlyn Dever, who originally applied for the role of Ellie.

It is also worth mentioning that the second installment should bring us even more spectacular scenes with the infected. Some time ago, the showrunner of the series, Craig Mazin revealed in an interview with Deadline that the first episodes of The Last of Us helped the team to draw the necessary conclusions and, thanks to that, to refine precisely the fragments involving the infected.
