He Got Cut From The Flash Because Finale With Batman Was 'Better'

The Flash was one of the most anticipated DCU movies. The Scarlet Speedster was supposed to usher the universe into a new era, with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm. However, problems during production meant that the concept of the work kept changing.

Indeed, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest show based on DC comics had as many as three different endings. Fans expected to see Henry Cavill in the role of Superman one last time. However, this did not happen, although it turns out that one of the endings followed such scenario.

Instead of giving a dignified farewell to the actor who has been playing Clark Kent for the past few years, the filmmakers decided to use a scene in which, after leaving the courthouse, Barry Allen is greeted by Bruce Wayne, played by George Clooney.

How was The Flash supposed to end?

The original plans for the finale of The Flash were quite different. Played by Ezra Miller, the main character was to create an alternate reality in which Kara Zor-El would replace Superman. The ending would also feature Batman played by Michael Keaton. The appearance of these two characters was to prove Barry's failure to restore the previous reality.

However, this plan was changed after the acquisition of Warner Bros. by Discovery. In addition to the three aforementioned characters, the ending was to feature Superman, played by Cavill, as well as Gal Gadot, playing Wonder Woman. At the time of filming this version, the actor was scheduled to return to the DCU, and a third installment of Diana Prince's adventures was still in the plans. However, this conflicted with the concept of James Gunn and Peter Safran, who began work on a new DCU.

For now, it is unclear what shape the universe they are building will take. What is certain is that the men want Superman to be played by a younger actor. They are reportedly getting closer to finding the perfect candidate.
