The film's budget was only $15 million, and the box office now totals almost $70 million. Despite the good result in the US, Godzilla Minus One is still slightly behind the current record holder, 2016's Shin Godzilla. The seven-year-old film earned 78 million dollars on an even smaller budget, as it cost only 7 million USD. There's a good chance the record will be broken, because Godzilla Minus One came to cinemas relatively recently.

Godzilla Minus One is the 37th film from the universe of the legendary monster and, considering the increasingly better results of the shows belonging to this world, it probably will not be the last. Perhaps viewers tired of superhero cinema are looking for a diversion and kaiju genre provides just that. In this case, Toho Studios should investigate what mistakes Marvel made so that Godzilla doesn't bore the audience.

Good financial results are also accompanied by high ratings. On Rotten Tomatoes, Godzilla Minus One received as much as 98% positive ratings from reviewers and viewers. Usually, the opinions of both sides differ drastically, so the result of the new show proves that the Japanese have managed to create an exceptionally engaging production, which could be a breakthrough for Godzilla.
