I went there and did the scene, and after seven rehearsals.... [Gold] said: 'Do you have anything else, Eddie?' (...) I said: 'Okay, that's one ruined childhood dream.'" The role eventually went to Adam Driver, but Eddie Redmayne is unlikely to have anything to complain about, since his absence in Star Wars enabled him to star in a couple of other blockbusters.
