Angel Manuel Soto, director of the upcoming DC movie Blue Beetle, recently talked about how James Gunn, one of the new heads of DC Studios, reacted to the final editing of the movie and how much he had to say during the production process. It turns out, that both Gunn and Peter Safran had no major comments when it came to working on the movie.

In an interview with GamesRadar the director talked about the reaction of DC bosses to the final version of the movie and their feelings about Blue Beetle.

The studio always holds everything in check. In terms of the essence of the story, they [James Gunn and Peter Safran - ed. note] liked what we did, they respected the vision and what we were trying to do with the movie.

They really appreciated the new look, the nostalgic beginning of the whole movie taking the audience to see the family and making them [viewers - ed. note] fall in love with it in a kind of prologue.""

Soto explained that James Gunn, known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel, has his own unique perspective, which was a valuable asset when making a movie based on a comic book. It was Gunn's influence that made the director of Blue Beetle want to ensure at all costs that all the characters around the protagonist were well-developed characters.

We didn't want to treat them like props. All characters deserve the attention we give them. The love you feel for them makes everything that happens more emotionally meaningful.""

Some time ago, James Gunn called Blue Beetle the first movie in DC's new cinematic universe. The movie is expected to bring the character of Jamie Reyes, the bearer of the mysterious scarab, to the big screen. Soto stressed that the show is expected to stay true to the character of this comic book hero, while at the same time attracting new audiences to the comic book world with a fresh take on the story.

Premiere of Blue Beetle will take place on August 18.
