2023 is already the past. When it comes to cinematography, it didn’t lack solid movie premieres. On the contrary, over the past 12 months, there have been several high-profile titles that have taken international cinemas by storm and captured the hearts of their audiences.

Although it will be difficult to repeat the success of movies such as Barbie, Oppenheimer, or Super Mario Bros. Movie, 2024 doesn't have to be worse in terms of film premiers. I have several candidates who could make a serious impact on the global box office.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Since I'm a huge fan of blockbusters, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire had to be included on my list. I will watch the latest show from the series that began in 2014 without hesitation, as the clash of these two titans always guarantees an impressive showdown.

Adam Wingard's new movie gains extra excitement from the fact that this time, the titular monsters will come together to battle against another ancient titan. The filmmakers also guarantee that the movie will offer insights into the existence of these massive monsters and the environment they inhabit.

Joker: Folie a deux

We – and probably many others – will be eagerly awaiting October 2, 2024. That's when the sequel to the 2019 Joker will premiere. Despite the fact that Joker: Folie a deux remains a movie shrouded in quite a thick veil of mystery, we are aware that it will depict the initial encounter of the main prince of crime with Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga). What will distinguish Todd Phillips' picture from the first one will be a touch of musical atmosphere. I don't know about you, but I find this intriguing!

Inside Out 2

Inside Out 2, Kelsey Mann, Walt Disney Pictures, 2024

There will also be plenty of interesting animated films next year. This includes, among other things, the sequel to the popular Inside Out, which captured the hearts of millions of viewers worldwide in 2015. Riley and her emotions will make a comeback to the movie screens on June 14, 2024. Anxiety will join the team composed of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust, along with her own company. So it looks like a truly explosive combination is on the horizon.

Deadpool 3

Deadpool 2, David Leitch, Twentieth Century Fox, 2018

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to Deadpool 3. My excitement for this film is almost critical-level, which is why this production has secured a very high fourth place, given the strong competition. The latest movie about the Sassy Mercenary will feature a dream duo and possibly the greatest superhero combination in cinema history – Deadpool and Wolverine. The arrival of these two characters in the same film is so thrilling that it's like receiving a star from the sky. The only thing left to do is to be patient and wait until July 26, 2024.

Gladiator 2

Gladiator, Ridley Scott, Universal Pictures, 2000

Gladiator, released in 2000, is among the best historical films ever. Ridley Scott's movie, which has won five Oscars and numerous other awards, will have a sequel next year. Even the fact that Russell Crowe won't be its star anymore doesn't reduce my interest. Reason? Curiosity about whether the legendary director can still deliver an epic tale.

We will find out on November 22nd next year whether Scott will be able to handle the burden of expectations. It will be challenging, but the 86-year-old director will be supported by an outstanding cast including Paul Mescal (who will play the adult Lucius), Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, and Connie Nielsen, who will reprise the role of Lucilla.

Beetlejuice 2

Beetlejuice, Tim Burton, Geffen Company, 1988

We had to wait 36 years for the premiere of the sequel to the iconic Beetle Juice. Even though the original was released in cinemas before I was even born, I have a strong sentimental connection to it. The characteristic style of Tim Burton and the excellent acting performances by Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are just a few of the many advantages of this timeless comedy. I believe this is sufficient to make Beetlejuice 2 one of the most eagerly awaited films not only of the coming year, but also (and I'm not afraid to say it) of the past decade!

The cast includes not only the old crew, but also stars such as Monica Bellucci, Willem Defoe, and Jenna Ortega. However, the real highlight is having Tim Burton himself directing this production. The premiere of the film is slated for September 6, 2024.

Dune 2

Dune 2, Denis Villeneuve, Warner Bros., 2024

Ladies and gentlemen, here’s our most eagerly anticipated film of 2024 – Dune 2. The premiere of the sequel to Denis Villeneuve's six-Oscar-winning film has been postponed to March 1, 2024, due to prolonged strikes by scriptwriters and actors.

Let's recall that the story in Dune 2, just like in the first part, is based on the iconic, eponymous book series by Frank Herbert. This spectacle focuses on Paul Atreides, who decided to join Chani and form an alliance with the Fremen. Therefore, the protagonist is declaring war on the conspirators who destroyed his family.

Villeneuve himself has repeatedly described his latest work as an "epic war film," effectively adding to the hype. My reaction to this comment is reflected in the popular scene from Futurama where Fry shouts, "Shut Up and Take My Money!"
