Star Wars Inconsistencies Could be Explained by George Lucas' Original Concept

George Lucas' original idea for Star Wars can be seen as an explanation for the inconsistencies that occurred during the development of the universe. Even changes in the stories of certain characters would make sense.

During the many years of development and changes taking place in the universe, inconsistencies began to appear in Star Wars. Disney's acquisition of the brand and a fresh opening theoretically could have helped create a more coherent story, but this did not happen. One of George Lucas' original ideas regarding the design of Star Wars provides the perfect explanation for why there are some modifications to familiar stories (via CBR).

Star wars are written legends

An example of the aforementioned inconsistency can be seen in Ahsoka's story, which was re-shown in the short series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. The animated production featured the former Jedi's life on the moon of Raad and the heroine's clash with the Sixth Brother. However, the presented story differs in several aspects from what we could read in the book Ahsoka by E. K. Johnston.

An explanation for, among other things, this issue may come from Lucas' initial idea for Star Wars. The director wanted Star Wars to resemble a legendary, mythical tale, written down in some ancient text.

The title of the first film was to be Adventures of the Starkiller as taken from the Journal of the Whills, Saga I: The Star Wars. So the filmmaker planned that it would depict the history of the galaxy as written down by the race of Whills in their journals. The idea fell through, but the journals eventually became canonical when Star Wars went to Disney, as the novelization of The Force Awakens begins with a quote from those very diaries.

The events were to be relayed to the Whills by R2-D2, who was present in each of the movies. In contrast, inconsistencies can be explained by the successive writing down of the same stories by various chroniclers. Each presents the stories in question in their own way, which results in some inconsistencies when the testimonies are juxtaposed. This is, after all, the case with myths and legends, which exist in many different variants. Lucas' idea would thus explain certain inconsistencies present in the canon.
