Harrison Ford Never Liked Han Solo? He Wanted Him Head ASAP

Han Solo is one of the most important characters in the Star Wars universe. The space smuggler still has his loyal fans today. However, this group does not include Harrison Ford, who much prefers Indiana Jones. Interestingly, actor even asked George Lucas to kill Han Solo already after the first film of the universe, A New Hope (via Fandom Wire):

Of course, that didn't happen, but Harrison Ford was not alone in his opinion. One of the screenwriters of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Lawrence Kasdan, wanted to put this important character to death as well. This was thought to be needed to raise the stakes and strengthen the involvement of viewers, who would be more concerned about the characters that would remain alive. The idea was opposed by George Lucas (via CBR).

Killing Han Solo would simultaneously mean an end to toy sales, something the creator of Star Wars did not want. For this reason, the smuggler appears throughout the original trilogy, although it has been pointed out that in Return of the Jedi his role is minor from a certain stage and is limited to shooting at stormtroopers with a blaster.

Ultimately, Han Solo dies in The Force Awakens and according to rumors, that was Harrison Ford's condition for appearing in the movie at all. The smuggler was eventually to die to the satisfaction of the actor, who wanted his death 40 years earlier.
