'I Didn't Think They Would Let Me'; Star Wars Series Showrunner on Breaking Geroge Lucas' Famous Rule

Another series set in the Star Wars universe, Star Wars: The Acolyte will present a story taking place 100 years before the events of Episode I. Showrunner Leslye Headland in one of the interviews promoting the upcoming show revealed why she broke one of the rules of the universe, invented by the creator of this world himself, George Lucas.

In an interview with Dagobah Dispatch Headland reveals some interesting facts about the show. One of them is the presence of a Jedi Master from the Wookiee race, named Kelnacca, who will be played by Joonas Suotamo. The appearance of a Force user belonging to a race inhabiting the planet Kashyyyk breaks the rule established by George Lucas, according to which Star Wars should never feature a Wookiee Jedi.

Kelnacca, of course, is not the first Jedi from the Wookiee race to exist in canon, but this will be the first time it has been done in live-action show. Previously, in the animated series The Clone Wars, we could see a young Wookiee named Gengi using the Force.

Star Wars: The Acolyte will take place at the end of the Great Republic. A former Padawan together with her Master will face the task of solving the mystery of a mysterious murder that is linked to users of the dark side of the Force.

The exact release date of the show on Disney+ is not yet known, but it will certainly happen in 2024.
