Tom Holland and Chris Pratt in Jak and Daxter Movie?

Since Naughty Dog moved away from its platformer roots to more high-profile games such as Uncharted and The Last of Us, Playstation fans have been begging for a return of Jak and Daxter in a new installment. Their pleas have been answered and we will once again be able to see the iconic duo - but this time not with gamepads in hands, but with popcorn.

As reported on Twitter account of MyTimeToShineHello (a movie insider who has previously shared leaks about Marvel, Scream and other major productions), Sony is working on a live-action movie dedicated to Jak and Daxter, which will be directed by Ruben Fleischer. It will star Tom Holland as Jak, and Chris Pratt providing the voice of Daxter.

This is not the first time we've heard about this project. Eurogamer reported already back in early 2022 that Ruben Fleischer's next project after Uncharted will be the movie version of Jak and Daxter.

What's more, Tom Holland, responding for Gamespot to the question of what his dream movie adaptation of a game is, he also pointed to Jak and his animal friend. After connecting all the dots, it seems clear that something must be up.

We received the last adventures of the aforementioned heroes in 2009 with Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier for the PS2 and PSP. This means that we have just passed the fourteenth year without any new installment. In between, 2012 saw the release of Jak and Daxter: HD Collection on PS3 and PS Vita platforms, but it was merely a visually refreshed version of the original trilogy from PS2.

Not everyone is probably happy that the duo will return in a movie instead of a game, but perhaps this is just the beginning of more Sony projects, including those related to games.
