It's Been 2 Years and Black Widow Still has One of the Worst CGI Scenes Ever Made

Premiere of Black Widow was scheduled to take place in May 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic it has been postponed until the summer of 2021. That's when the movie appeared on Disney+ and theaters in countries where restrictions allowed for screenings. Despite the fact that the premiere was heavily delayed and the filmmakers gained additional time for post-production, CGI effects presented in the movie have provoked extreme reactions.

Without a doubt, the worst CGI scene in recent years is the one we find near the end of the film. It concerns the moment when Yelena (Florence Pugh) sacrifices herself in front of her sister Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). What went wrong?

At first glance, we can see that the picture has bad lighting. It is also evident that everything is shot on green screen, and the special effects seem shoddy. The same has been pointed out by critics of the film. In addition, the scene - due to the poor acting - looks simply grotesque. One would think that we are dealing with a parodyrather than a movie by Marvel Studios.

Unfortunately poor CGI effects in high-budget productions are on the rise. Just remember She-Hulk, the monster from Wednesday or DC's The Flash. These elements could have been created in the first decade of the 21st century and no one would have noticed the difference. Moreover, if you look at the CGI of those years, you will quickly notice that many of today's productions do not compare to such works as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean or Avatar. This is influenced by many factors, primarily time pressure and producer pressure.
